Imagine a perfect black dachshund named Edith: sweet, loving, and kind. Now, imagine fear filling her eyes every time a man walks into the room. This is the sad reality surrounding animal abuse. Witnessing Edith’s struggles and hearing countless heartbreaking stories slowly angered Madelyn. She turned anger into action and launched the Loosen the Leash Project because no animal deserves to feel fear. Now her work is making waves as she has helped raise almost $100,000 for animal abuse prevention. With 501(c)(3) approval and trademark status in the works, Madelyn is ready to end animal abuse in America!
Madelyn is the official spokesperson for Pennsylvania’s Beagle Bill.
She was invited to speak at the Capitol to Pennsylvania legislators on behalf of the Beagle Bill, a bipartisan bill spearheaded by Senator Carolyn Comitta and Senator Doug Mastriano, along with the Animal Protection Caucus and Humane World for Animals.
The Beagle Bill brings justice to dogs abused in lab testing, especially beagle victims. The traits that make beagles the best pets are the same traits that make them victims. Pennsylvania is ready to join the 16 states who took their anger and transformed it into action.
Humane Society: Madelyn’s legatislative ambitions became a reality on May 6th 2025, when she spoke at our state capital about the Beagle Bill. This collaborative effect with Pennsylvania Senators and the Humane Society created momentum in her mission of ending animal abuse in America.
Animal Rescue League Partnership: As an ambassador, Madelyn has served as a delegate at the annual Festival of Trees Gala which raised over $70,000 for animal abuse intervention. Her favorite event was the launch of the Mobile Adoption Unit, which gained statewide news coverage and helped over 2,000 animals find a home.
Columbia Animal Shelter: Fundraising over $30,000 for veterinary and rehabilitation technology was a highlight for the Loosen the Leash Project. Columbia heals Pennsylvania pets at their state-of-the-art facility, Madelyn wants to get younger generations involved with animal welfare volunteering through her partnership with Columbia Animal Shelter.
